In order to reduce discomfort you might experience as a result of irritation from your braces, as well as to ensure an optimal response to treatment, we ask that you follow a routine steps prior to leaving our office. Please make these steps a routine part of each office visit:

  1. Using your finger and tongue, check that wire ends do not extend into areas that might irritate your tongue or cheek.
  2. Make sure you understand the instructions you need to follow until your next appointment. This may include wearing headgear or elastics, activating an expander, or following specific hygiene or diet instructions.
  3. We’re happy to provide you with an adequate supply of orthodontic wax and elastics (rubber bands) — just ask!
  4. Please take the time to schedule your next appointment before leaving the office.
We want to ensure that we answer any treatment-related questions you may have during your appointment. We encourage parents to accompany their children to their appointments, as this gives us the opportunity to update you on your child’s treatment progress.
